Defined by the Greek as the result of the meeting between lightning, land and water, the truffle was very much appreciated also by the ancient Roman people.
In the Middle Ages, on the contrary, truffle was not very popular. In fact they believed that it was created by the devil, since it came from the underground.
During the Renaissance truffle was considered one of the finest and most precious foods and it was very popular on the tables of the noble families such as the Medicis and the Borgias and all over Europe.
It was in the XVIII that truffle hunting became a popular sport or better entertainment especially for guests coming to visit from abroad.
To search for the truffle you need experience, patience and a good dog.
Guided by an expert truffle hunter you will discover the secret corners of the Valsamoggia woods.
It will be a pleasant walk in search of the “earth’s diamond”. You will see how the dog feels the truffle’s smell and it digs till it finds one. Then, the truffle hunter with the help of an opposite shovel, picks the truffle.
After the truffle hunt, you will enjoy a typical lunch based on traditional dishes including homemade pasta.
