6 hours

Availability:

Starting time:

Program

Meet your private guide at your hotel in central Bologna or at Piazza Maggiore by the Neptune Fountain. You will be introduced to Bologna’s history and explore, at your own pace, the town’s most famous monuments, including San Petronio Basilica, Palazzo Comunale, the Santo Stefano complex, and the Two Towers. You will have privileged access to the Archiginnasio Palace, the first permanent seat of Bologna University, and visit the Anatomy Theater and the Stabat Mater Hall.

Next, you’ll explore one of Bologna’s oldest food markets with an insider, visiting the most traditional food shops. The smells and tastes will ensure lasting memories. At the Quadrilatero, Bologna’s food market, you’ll enjoy 5 authentic tastings (a full meal) at various locations: an ancient family-run deli, a bakery, a chocolate factory, a pasta workshop, and a gelato shop. The amount of food served is substantial, so for most people, lunch afterward won’t be necessary.

This is the perfect tour to give you insights into Bologna’s traditions and culture.

You will visit:

the oldest bakery in Bologna

and taste their delicious “torta di riso” (rice cake);

the most ancient chocolate factory of the town

where the first solid chocolate “sfoglia nera” was invented and sample their specialties;

a deli-store

where you will be served cured meats and cheeses (Parmigiano Reggiano with balsamic vinegar, Mortadella, Salame di Felino, Caciotta, Prosciutto di Parma Parma Ham) with typical breads and local wine;

a pasta laboratory

to taste homemade egg pasta;

and finally a traditional ice-cream shop!
